Diversity in Blockchain, Inc. Attends Blockchain for Impact Global Summit held at the united nations headquarters in new york city
Diversity in Blockchain, Inc. (DiB) participated in the first ever Blockchain for Impact Global Summit held at the United Nations Plaza on Monday, June 4th, 2018. The summit was presented by the Blockchain Commission for Sustainable Development, a multisectoral framework supporting the United Nations, Member States, Intergovernmental Organizations, the private sector and civil society. This daylong event brought together over 300 delegates, who are all industry stakeholders, to engage in discussion and debate surrounding the future of blockchain and how it can be responsibly administered around the globe to tackle humanity’s biggest challenges. Two of DiB’s founding members, Susan Joseph and Shawnna Hoffman, presented to the entire delegation about the importance of diversity and inclusion in the industry and how the global blockchain community has an incredible opportunity to shape the future of technology that will truly serve everyone, everywhere.
The roster of UN leadership and key note speakers was a testament to the commitment from the global community to explore and understand the true potential of the emerging blockchain space. Speakers included, but were not limited to, Amir Dossal (President, Global Partnerships Forum), H.E. Madam Marie Chatardová (President, Economic and Social Council, United Nations and Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the UN), H.E. Mr. Juan Sandoval (Ambassador, Permanent Mission of Mexico to the UN), Mr. Navid Hanif (Director, Finance for Sustainable Development Office, Department of Economic and Social Affairs, UN), Henri Dommel (Director of Inclusive Finance, UN Capital Development Fund), Ms. Michelle Gyles-McDonnough (Director, Sustainable Development Unit in Executive Office of Secretary General), Jason Kelly (General Manager , Blockchain Services, IBM), Chris Kelly (Founder, Kelly Investments & First General Counsel, Facebook), Marco Santori (President, Blockchain), General Wesley K. Clark (former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, Europe), Rostin Behnam (Commissioner, US Commodity Futures Trading Commission), Mr. Ulises Gomez Nolasco (Deputy Attorney, Fiscal Investigation of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit of Mexico) and Mr. Dennis Kucinich (former US Representative from Ohio).
The panel discussions demonstrated the breadth of complex topics industry leaders are tackling. They included “How Does Blockchain and Tokenomics Explode Innovation of Other Frontier Tech Like AI?”, “Federated Information System: The Open SDG Data Hub”, “How Blockchain Can Fuel Blended Impact Finance to Scale the SDGs”, “Everything That Can Be Tokenized Will Be: The Evolution of Regulation, Impact and the Digital Frontier of the 5th Industrial Revolution”, “State of the Global Block” and “UN Impact Projects & Sustainable Solutions”.
The participation of Diversity in Blockchain, Inc. in the Blockchain for Impact Global Summit marks the beginning of a long term working relationship with the two entities. Through this partnership, DiB will play an integral role in the program by making sure diversity concerns are acknowledged and addressed throughout all future Blockchain for Impact worldwide Summits planned over the next year.
